![]() ![]() Ordering wood to be piled around it and set on fire, his archers fired burning arrows into the stronghold, where they found plenty of fuel. After all attempts had failed, Aurelius gave the order to burn the tower. Though these laboured long and hard, they could not break through the walls. Once his army had taken up their positions, Aurelius gave the command for the great siege engines to set to work. Aurelius was joined by Eldol, the Duke of Gloucester, the only British noble of those present, apart from Vortigern, to have survived ‘The Treachery of the Long Knives ‘. Instead he was intent on first wreaking vengeance on Vortigern, and led the Britons to his last stronghold. The Britons wanted to attack Hengist immediately but Aurelius overruled them. Vortigern, a half-legendary 5th-century British ruler, is depicted in his burning castle. They came together from all parts of Britain to join with him and brought together the clergy, who anointed him the King of the Britons. The few war leaders and nobles that were left after ‘The Treachery of the Long Knives ‘ had been scattered and leaderless, but were now united under the banner of Aurelius, burning for vengeance. Word of the coming of Aurelius and his brother spread rapidly across Britain. Finally, after meticulous preparation, he arrived on the shores of Britain at Totnes with his younger brother Uther, at the head of a powerful invasion force of Armorican cavalry and footmen. While the Saxon takeover of Britain was unfolding, in exile, Aurelius Ambrosius was making a name for himself in the battles of Armorica, and his fame spread across Europe. ![]() Presented here and drawn from several sources listed below is the story of how Aurelius defeated Vortigern and the Saxons led by Hengist to become King of the Britons, restore law and order, and begin the process of rebuilding a wounded and shattered nation. Vortigern had, however, been betrayed by his Saxon allies, resulting in the deaths of many of the ruling Britons in an incident known as “The Treachery of the Long Knives.” With the Britons defeated and under Saxon tyranny, Aurelius Ambrosius with his brother Uther returned to free their countrymen and reclaim the crown of the Britons. Aurelius harboured a burning hatred for King Vortigern, who had usurped the crown of the Britons from his family. He was a skilled warrior both on horseback and on the ground an inspiring leader of men and an outstanding military tactician and general. Most accounts say he was a modest, just, and determined man who exercised self-discipline in all of his ways. According to some medieval writers such as Geoffrey of Monmouth, he was the uncle of the famous King Arthur, who would later take the crown. This is the story of the legendary Aurelius Ambrosius, a King of the Britons in the 5th century AD. ![]()

![]() ![]() Although the gameplay itself may prove tiresome over long periods, the game's story elements, sense of isolation, and soundtrack make Out There a more-than-worthwhile purchase. The title avoids a number of science fiction tropes, and the bold move to avoid combat mechanics gives Out There its own place in space-based video games. Out There has translated to home computers with ease, taking on the extra content required in its stride. ![]() If a playthrough is unsuccessful, however, it will not be long before players will want to start another, such is the desire to discover more of the game's universe. Star systems will not always contain gas giants or garden planets, and an unlucky encounter on the way to another system could see severe damage done to the ship hull. In November 2020, AEW revealed an early trailer for their debut game. The cosmos can be cruel and unforgiving, and the random nature of the game's universe means that a player's skill will not always dictate success. Hangman Adam Page pinned Kenny Omega in the middle of the ring to win the AEW. It's a calm that could be needed, however, as Out There does have the potential to frustrate. Out There's music is gentle and unobtrusive, creating a deceptive calm. It works well with the sparse writing, and marries brilliantly with the game's ambient electronic soundtrack, created by Antichamber composer Siddhartha Barnhoorn. Out There has a pulp sci-fi feel, comparable to old-school sci-fi comics, and the vibrant color palette includes Hotline Miami-esque neon-soaked moments to create a varied and complex universe. The title has plenty of influence from science fiction of days gone by, particularly in terms of the graphical style. Out There nails down the idea of the cosmos being a dangerous and expansive void, which is lost all-too often in other spaced-based games. In terms of science fiction video games, this is 2001: A Space Odyssey to FTL's original Star Trek. Mi-Clos Studio's title is incredibly successful in creating a sense of loneliness, meaning that every moment of contact with another race seems extremely important for the astronaut's wellbeing. The brief meetings with alien races only intensify the feeling of isolation that Out There provides. This worked incredibly well on mobile platforms, but home computer players may be left wanting more. The majority of the early gameplay is made up of three different proactive gameplay moments: sending probes for fuel, mining ore planets, and landing on garden planets. As a result, if players found the planet-probing moments of Bioware's series less-than-enthralling, then Out There might not be entertaining. In a strange way, this means that the game almost plays out like the galaxy exploration mini-games of the Mass Effect series, particularly Mass Effect 2. Keeping tabs on fuel, air, and hull stability is essential, with different elements repairing or refilling the Fuel, Oxygen, and Hull meters. These elements can be found by mining ore-rich planets to repair the hull, probing gas giants for hydrogen and helium for fuel, and landing on garden planets to refill oxygen supplies. Players are not able to rely on firepower to escape dangerous situations, and the bulk of the gameplay is instead focused around resource management. There is a separate option for DC that should be turned off when you turn off "Saving Throw" since this is the case, but not vice-versa.As wise as he is powerful the Sage Algernon has long served the Whitestone Legion as both it's eldritch master and consul. It doesn't show any of the other text of the configured description. Good luck! Magik Well I appreciate the suggestion! I suppose I thought this was specific to the pathfinder sheet since it seems to be related to this macro code: in the Description of Ray of Frost and when it displays the Description, all that it shows with this in the text is: Check, where is the resulting ranged attack roll. You may want to post in another appropriate non-sheet forum to see if you get feedback there. :) There may have been a change in the template that caused this or they just have no control over it if it was a Roll20-side change. Does anyone have any ideas on this? It's possible that nobody has any idea. I suppose this is a quality of life thing but it really bothers me that on non crits half the 3d dice on my screen are meaningless. Any idea why critical confirm 3d dice are now always showing even when it isn't a crit and doesn't show in the roll template? I don't think it was doing this before, but even when I make a new repeating attack the fresh macro seems to do it as well. Magik said: Darpeh said: Darpeh said: Hey ladies and germs, me again. I'm not sure if java could be the issue either. Of course, I'm not a Roll20 professional rather, I'm just offering up some hopefully helpful advice. I've never heard of the character sheet buttons malfunctioning unless a player edited the macros themselves and introduced an error. There were buttons on the character sheet that were removed proper to the java workers implementation and the quick bar buttons that the player has may be the problem. unless maybe he needs to update his java ? Since the character sheet worked for you and another player, I made the leap that the player with the issue was actually using the quick bar and was reporting the error there. ![]() ![]() The people behind the Archies - songwriter and producer Jeff Barry, singers Ron Dante and original female voice Toni Wine, renowned musicians like guitarist Hugh McCracken and bassist Chuck Rainey - knew what pre-teens of the time wanted - unadulterated silliness like the Ohio Express’ “Yummy Yummy Yummy.” The first two Archies albums, The Archies and Everything’s Archie, pretty much delivered on that promise. Throughout the five discs, there aren’t too many other tracks to rival the undeniable hook and “pour a little sugar on it” grit of “Sugar, Sugar.” (Even soul great Wilson Pickett covered it, albeit as a slow-jam groove.) But the box set also serves as an instruction manual on the glories and pitfalls of bubblegum pop, lessons we’re still seeing played out today. The naysayers of the time, like the emerging rock press that dismissed the Archies records as disposable junk, weren’t completely wrong. (And let’s not forget the way the Gorillaz inherited the cartoon-band legacy decades later, or that Bored Ape Yacht Club, those cartoon monkeys that are the talk of the NFT world, are venturing into music.) In that context, the existence of Sugar, Sugar - The Complete Albums Collection (Goldenlane)– which boxes all five of the Archies LPs (minus their obligatory Christmas record) - makes some sort of crazy sense. Riverdale, the self-consciously somber update of Archie, revived the Archies as a “band,” albeit as a predictably gloomier one playing dour pop like “Midnight Radio.” Last month, Netflix announced a “live action musical” film version of The Archies, to be directed by Zoya Akhtar and set in India. The series is hardly remembered as a high watermark of animation, and neither are the five Archies albums -billed to the cartoon characters but sung and played by uncredited studio players - recalled as anything but forgettable cash-in product for a Saturday morning cartoon show.Īnd yet the Archies continue being reanimated. But of all the Sixties artifacts to survive and prosper five decades on, it’s doubtful that anyone, even Kirshner, would have predicted the Archies would make that list. The cartoon series, which launched in 1968, just as The Monkees was being cancelled, had its dopy charms. 1 spot, where it stayed for four weeks it also became the biggest-selling hit of that year. Kirshner knew a hit when he heard it: In 1969, “Sugar, Sugar” (cowritten by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim) wound up knocking the Rolling Stones’ “Honky Tonk Women” out of the No. “That’s all because the Monkees wouldn’t do my song and that got me pissed off.” The band’s musical gatekeeper, the one most preoccupied with the TV-generated combo being allowed to write its own songs and play on its own records, Nesmith famously rejected “ Sugar, Sugar” - a bubblegum pop song as basic as it gets, brought to them by producer Don Kirshner.Īs the late Kirshner told RS in 2009, Nesmith’s dismissing of the song inspired him to turn to animation: “Mike said, ‘It’s a piece of junk–I’m not doing it.’ I came home and my son Ricky was reading Archie comic books.” Inspired by that sight, Kirshner flashed on turning the comic into a cartoon series - and having Archie, Jughead, Veronica and the gang perform the songs, instead of actual three-dimensional humans with opinions. Earlier this month, we lost the Monkees’ Michael Nesmith. In an utterly accidental way, a box set devoted to the Archies, the infamous TV cartoon band of the Sixties, couldn’t have arrived at a timelier moment. ![]() ![]() ![]() And so this has led to somewhat of a crisis in the field.
